Why your Personal Health Matters in Entrepreneurship

Jun 27, 2024

We often get caught up in the hustle and grind of building our businesses.

However, ignoring our personal health and well-being can lead to burnout and setbacks down the line.

I've seen clients who loved what they did, but ultimately couldn't do it because they neglected their basic needs.

Don't let this happen to you.

Prioritizing your mind and body isn't just important - it's non-negotiable for sustained success.

If you want the full version of this, check out my video to learn more about Why your Personal Health Matters in Entrepreneurship

The 4 Pillars of Entrepreneurial Health

Sleep: Aim for 8 Hours

Lack of sleep impacts everything from decision-making to hormone levels.

I need a full 8 hours to function optimally.

Find your sleep rhythm and protect it.

Going to bed and waking up around the same times helps regulate your body's cycles.

Movement: Start Your Day Active

I wake up early to squeeze in a 20-40 minute workout before my kids rise.

If a longer routine isn't feasible, go for a walk or do light stretching midday to energize.

Moving my body increases my stamina, mental clarity and even radiates an aura of confidence that clients pick up on.

Hydration: Water is Life

During the postpartum period, I was constantly parched and realized I needed to make hydration a consistent habit.

Now I measure my intake to ensure I'm properly fueled for agility during workouts and daily life.

Staying hydrated provides an amazing full-body boost.

Nutrition: Food as Medicine

We used to eat lots of starchy, sugary foods until my husband's health issues prompted us to clean up our diets.

Removing inflammatory items like gluten and sugars helped him heal naturally.

I was amazed at how much more energy I had once I ate for optimal fuel rather than just fullness.

Meal prepping healthy options prevents regrettable fast food decisions when hunger strikes.

The Reality of Implementation of course, actually integrating these pillars into your life as an entrepreneur is easier said than done.

There will be seasons where you may need to temporarily scale back other commitments to prioritize your health.

But doing so allows you to show up as your sharpest, most confident self for your business each day.
